Handmade India was started in 2015 with a store on Hill Road, Bandra (W) Mumbai by Neha and Mukul who are partners in business and in life.
Mukul’s father worked with NABARD for the non-farm sector and was engaged with many smalls scale cottage industries. Travelling along with his family across the country, he experienced different cultures, arts and cuisines from a young age. He grew up to qualify in Hotel Management and worked in India, China and the Middle East. After completing his MBA from Hult University and working some more time, he decided to head back to India and start his own venture. Handmade India started as a very small stall at Diwali and developed into a passionate business. Mukul loves to travel and is an avid deal hunter so it’s no surprise that he heads the supply chain for the business.
Neha’s experience was similar to Mukul’s. Due to her father’s job in the Foreign Service, she travelled the world growing up. Having spent her formative years in Ukraine, the UK and Zimbabwe, she grew to be very world aware. Fond of travelling and experiencing life in different parts of the world, Neha chose to spend her working years in Mumbai, London and Dubai. As a qualified Chartered Accountant, she manages the finances but her main focus is on sales and operations.
Both, Neha and Mukul wanted to learn business on the ground the old fashioned way and with time have understood their customers and developed their own taste. They both now travel across the country together to source and curate gorgeous arts and crafts from all corners.
